About Us
Out of the Can (OOTC)
Out of the Can (OOTC) is a group of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning volunteers who consider themselves to be the driving force behind the activities OOTC organises and does. Since OOTC began we have taken part in some great activities that have brought out the many skills of the young people and some brilliant memories to take forward.
One of our first ventures was the peer mentor training residential in Portland which we shared with two other LGBT youth groups from the South West, Weymouth and Bridport. Everyone had such a fantastic time that we decided to repeat it with our next Peer Mentor Training Residential which took place in March 2008. This time we stayed in Stourhead which is part of the National Trust site surrounded by beautiful countryside and we had some members from Oxford's LGBT youth group Way Out attending, as well as a mixture of LGBT people from the South West!
Since then we continue to support other events such as the Swindon Youth Festival, the Big Day Out, Freshers Fayres and look forward to being involved in Swindon & Wiltshire Pride!
The group are currently heavily involved in creating the website, which we are still learning to master. We are getting there so please bear with us til we are website genius's.
